About the Scottish Wildlife Trust
We are ‘always learning’
As an organisation, one of our core values is that we are ‘always learning’ and we believe that knowledge is power when it comes to conserving our environment.
As part of the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Strategy 2030, we are seeking to mobilise communities across Scotland to take action for nature in an increasingly diverse, collective effort in which everyone can play their part.
Between 2022-2024, we delivered the Nextdoor Nature project in Scotland, bringing communities together to help nature flourish where they live and work. This UK-wide initiative was made possible thanks to £5 million funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund as a lasting natural legacy in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Through this project, we were able to develop and deliver the Nextdoor Nature Pioneers Programme to four cohorts of community leaders in Scotland, giving participants the understanding, resources and confidence needed to be able to organise action for nature where they live.
This eLearning site is also a result of the Nextdoor Nature project. Through these accessible online courses, we hope to enable even more people to learn about and care for Scotland’s natural environment. We believe that everyone has the power to help nature, and we hope that these courses provide the skills and understanding required for others to take meaningful action to protect and restore wildlife across Scotland.
